[01]Experience

23 years, end to end

Full-stack lead engineer with 23 years shipping and operating production web platforms end to end — architecture, payments, integrations, UI, queues, and server ops. 6+ years of production Laravel, now building agentic AI workflows into live, regulated systems. Built a real-estate media company's entire platform from scratch and ran its development, servers, security, and marketing for twelve years. Known for turning messy operations into reliable, modular pipelines with measurable reliability and throughput gains.

  1. Lead Development Engineer — Prestige Men's Health

    Feb 2023 – Present

Midvale, UT · Hybrid · Contract

    • Pioneered an agentic AI engineering lifecycle: architected and deployed an autonomous AI-assisted development workflow using Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot, accelerating feature delivery velocity by 300% across 3,000+ production commits with zero deployment regressions.
    • Automated AI-driven testing and system documentation: deployed autonomous agent test generators via Claude Code and Cursor to build extensive Pest, PHPUnit, and Playwright suites and real-time architectural documentation, safeguarding mission-critical EHR, billing, and lab fulfillment pathways.
    • Engineered modular Electronic Health Record (EHR) pipelines and background scheduling telemetry with Laravel, Filament, Livewire, and Vue, optimizing database query footprints while securely validating patient data entry across service-date, medication, and lab lifecycles.
    • Delivered multi-clinic team tenancy (team_id isolation, CurrentTeam middleware, per-clinic credentials) so appointments, SMS, payments, FHIR children, and import/export stay correctly scoped, with strict tenant isolation for hundreds of concurrent clinical operators.
    • Implemented and hardened payment operations: NMI Customer Vault charges/terminals, transaction sync/reconciliation queues, failed-vault recovery, Stripe clinic billing webhooks, and staff charge-product tooling used in daily clinic revenue workflows.
    • Engineered a real-time clinical communications console: re-platformed multi-clinic messaging into an asynchronous Twilio SMS/MMS hub on Filament, Alpine.js, Livewire, and Laravel Reverb/Echo WebSockets — with scheduled SMS, inbound team isolation, and barcode-driven product charge flows — slashing front-desk administrative overhead by 40%.
    • Owned lab, pharmacy, and Rx ops surfaces: Access Labs ordering/results, medication request/lifecycle modals, Fax.Plus clinical fax paths, pharmacy fulfillment visibility, Dymo/shipping labels, and inventory reconciliation hooks.
    • Ported and hardened Tebra/Kareo FHIR + patient sync jobs with OAuth token caching, per-team scheduled sync, gender/Postgres compatibility fixes, and patient dedup guards to keep EHR mirrors trustworthy.
    • Shipped HIPAA-oriented technical safeguards: forced MFA for staff and patient portal, Brevo HTTPS API mail for email 2FA, an encrypted Integrations credential hub, and audit-friendly import/export locked to the active team.
    • Executed a comprehensive frontend modernization from legacy Bootstrap/jQuery to Tailwind CSS v4, Alpine.js, and Vue 3 via Vite, while keeping live clinical workflows stable.
    • Maintained 99.9% platform uptime on DigitalOcean by orchestrating zero-downtime deployment pipelines and configuring Laravel Octane worker pools, plus queue/realtime workers, rsync-safe storage, and nginx/php-fpm reloads.
  2. Director of Engineering / Lead Systems Architect — Spotlight Media Group / Spotlight Home Tours

    Aug 2010 – Jun 2022

W-2 salaried through June 2022; freelance engineering for Spotlight and other clients continues alongside Prestige.

Ran all technology for a real-estate marketing company for twelve years, working directly with the CEO and staff. I built everything from scratch — the platform, the servers it lived on, the security, and the company's internet marketing and SEO. I led a development team for roughly a quarter of that time; for the other three-quarters I did all of it myself.

    Products built · 09

    • Photo & video tour platform

Photo and video tours for real estate agents — the core product the company sold — with tiered marketing packages, monthly memberships, and recurring automated subscriptions.

    • Agent dashboard & admin command center

End-to-end custom portals: a feature-rich real estate agent dashboard and an administrative command center centralizing studio operations, asset logistics, and business analytics.

    • Geospatial scheduling engine

Custom Google Maps API engine mapping USPS ZIP code boundaries to automate territorial zoning, dynamic photographer routing, and client self-scheduling.

    • Proofing & annotation tools

Collaborative asset proofing for photographers, editors, and clients (React, Vue.js, jQuery): visual annotations and time-coded prompts on live photo and video assets to compress revision cycles.

    • Website builder

Custom decoupled website builder on PHP, Next.js, and a bespoke REST API, with a production-grade companion React Native mobile app.

    • Social Compass

Conceptualized, engineered, and launched: an automated social media marketing SaaS integrating the graph APIs of all major social networks, sold to businesses in any industry.

    • Concierge

Done-for-you marketing service tier running on the same platform.

    • YouTube Manager

Automated virtual home-tour video publishing to YouTube, with full customization.

    • In-house CRM

Customer relationship management system built from scratch — no third-party CRM or off-the-shelf platform.

    • Designed and engineered a complete proprietary full-stack PHP / MySQL framework from scratch to power all core business operations, and built the company's entire real-estate marketing system on it — tours, a custom checkout ecosystem (Authorize.net, First Data / Payeezy) with tiered packages and recurring subscriptions, and deep Acuity Scheduling API customizations.
    • Owned all DevOps and media processing: servers, advanced Windows/IIS configuration, FFmpeg, AWS (EC2, S3, Elastic Transcoder) batch encoding, and production adaptive streaming (HLS, DASH, and low-latency RTMP) — through three generations of the video pipeline.
    • Owned cybersecurity for the platform and the servers it ran on.
    • Built MLS data ingestion and processing (RETS/FTP) across many regional boards, plus affiliate tooling, custom flyer/brochure generation (image/PDF/social), WordPress plugins, ecommerce customizations, and hybrid mobile apps (Cordova/PhoneGap).
    • In 2020, spearheaded the strategic migration of the entire PHP framework and the real-estate marketing tools to Laravel with zero operational downtime — application architecture, auth, and production feature delivery.
    • Ran the company's internet marketing for most of the tenure: SEO, analytics, conversion-rate optimization, and branding, alongside all engineering work.
    • Led a team of developers, QA, and tech support for roughly a quarter of the tenure, and was the sole developer for the remaining three-quarters. Worked directly with the CEO and other members of staff.
  3. Webmaster — Independent Engineering Consultant

    Aug 2009 – Aug 2010

    • Operated an independent consultancy serving commercial clients: custom web architecture, server administration, payment gateway integrations, and performance engineering.
    • Principal engineer for flagship client USA Songwriting Competition (songwriting.net): built an end-to-end custom event-registration and submission CRM and a secure, high-conversion custom checkout using PHP, MySQL, jQuery, and Bootstrap.
    • Architected normalized relational schemas, customized entry-intake workflows, automated contestant notifications, and built high-security merchant-processing funnels with rigorous input validation and fraud-prevention controls.
  4. Webmaster — Luna Webs

    Mar 2009 – Aug 2009

    • Developed interactive client web applications with PHP, MySQL, and structured JavaScript, delivering cross-browser compliant, standards-based UIs that improved site responsiveness and performance; also SEO, Flash UI work, and graphic design.
  5. Application Interface Engineer — Solution Stream

    Sep 2008 – Jan 2009

    • Built high-performance, responsive user interfaces and desktop frontends with WPF/XAML alongside enterprise ASP.NET CMS environments (Sitefinity, SharePoint), streamlining corporate client information workflows; supported SEO and Flash animation needs.
  6. Search Engine Optimization Specialist & Web Development Engineer — WI Works, Inc. (Utah Web Services)

    Sep 2004 – Mar 2008

    • Drove double-digit conversion gains across 100+ enterprise and small-business accounts by optimizing database schemas, web server configurations, and organic search indexing.
    • Developed secure, scalable PHP/MySQL backends and online shopping applications for reliable high-volume catalog management and order processing.
    • Main focus was search engine optimization and proven conversion rates: ran SEO campaigns (link bait, link building, SEO copywriting, analytics), email marketing, and Google pay-per-click campaigns; installed and optimized WordPress sites; studied Google patents and algorithms to improve client placement.
    • Set up hosting/email environments and delivered Flash-based interactive experiences when required.
  7. Application Developer / Macromedia Flash Specialist — Prox MX, Inc.

    Jan 2004 – Sep 2004

    • Built interactive, database-driven web applications and multimedia software with ActionScript 2.0, XML feeds, and relational database backends for commercial accounts.
